Over the past four years, I’ve had the honor of serving as General Manager in a cosmetic company. Beauty has always been central in my life, initially as a personal passion, and later as a professional necessity in the entertainment industry, where appearance is crucial for artists. However, it has always been important to me that my true self shines through. I have consistently chosen products that not only enhance my unique features but also protect my health.
My background in graphic design and experience in managing a publishing house’s image taught me the importance of aesthetics in communicating a product’s intrinsic value. A book cover must convey the quality of its content to someone who hasn’t read it, and this concept applies perfectly to cosmetics.
During my journey in the cosmetic industry, I observed the widespread tendency to hide features that don’t align with media-imposed beauty ideals. This drove me to give voice to the inner self, allowing people to express themselves through their external appearance. My approach is not shouted but whispered because substance doesn’t need to be ostentatious to be perceived. This philosophy is at the heart of the ESSERE project, developed by Giovanni Fabiano and me.
There’s an English term, “Demure,” that describes this way of being discreet. I see myself in this concept: I love elegance, I love class, I love fighting for what I believe in, but without being flashy. I want my essence to be felt without having to play a part, remaining true to myself.
Being yourself is fundamental, not only to feel important but also to stand out in a world saturated with imitations. Only when our authentic self emerges can we truly feel our worth. Being a copy will never give us that feeling.
